Date: Jan 30, 2017
Location: Houston, TX, US, 77032
We are looking for the right people — people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.
Job Capsule:
The Chief Electrical Engineer is responsible for the technical oversight of instrumentation, communication, & power architectures of new Wireline & Perforating Services (WPS) products. He or she will conduct conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reviews for these electrical designs following our internal product development process. While he or she might not be intimately familiar with a specific project or its application, they will be able to quickly ascertain the aspects of the design that are at risk of not meeting requirements, ask questions to clarify those issues, and assign tasks to resolve remaining issues and reduce the risks to an acceptable level. The chief engineer is the final arbitrator as to whether the design team has done sufficient work to pass each technical review and allow the project to progress to the next stage of development. To accomplish this he or she will pull on a wealth of personal experience (>10 years) with complex electronic/electrical systems and circuits from previous product development efforts.
During the interview process, candidates will be asked to provide specific examples of how they meet the above criteria.
Job Roles:
Responsible for technical review of electronics architectures, designs, and schematics in WPS products under development
Display expertise in the design of analog and digital electronics that can operate at elevated temperatures above 300-F.
Have experience developing, maintaining, and ensuring employee adherence to documented processes such as our design review procedures.
Ensure that the laboratory verification and field validation test plans are adequate and comprehensive to mitigate technical risks inherent to new electrical hardware.
The Chief Engineer will be excellent at listening to others; hearing their ideas and then accepting them or amending them as required.
Embody personal drive whereby he or she sporadically interjects themselves into technical discussions to ensure that the design teams are resolving issues identified in previous design reviews
Demonstrate the ability to provide constructive technical feedback and guidance to other electrical engineers.
Successful candidates will provide examples of mentoring or coaching of others, helping them strengthen their electrical engineering talents.
Be able to ascertain and evaluate new technologies. Active participation in a professional society like IEEE, SPE, and/or SWPLA will be viewed favorably.
