Lead Engineer - Embedded Systems- GIL001784

Description:
Define, architect, develop, and deploy embedded software applications for Forecourt platforms, Payment Systems and Dispensers.
Debugging on Linux platform
Integrate the basic Forecourt platform with peripheral devices. These include Automation Systems, Payment systems, Vapor recovery system, Human Interfaces, Sensors etc.
Upgrade existing software to meet increasing customer demands.
Develop (software) products for the “Adjacencies” market.

II. Primary Deliverables

Design and Maintenance of Automation and Payments Systems – legacy and future.
System Level Programming – Linux and other RTOSes on primarily ARM based systems and Microcontrollers.
Generating source code, configuration files, compiled Object code.
Design Specifications, project plans, design reviews.
Production and regulatory release documentation
Typical systems designed and architected :
16/32 bit microprocessor based fuel dispenser control and calculator systems.
Real time calculations, safety critical state machines.
Memory subsystems, I/O architecture
LAN, Serial and bus communication systems for internal and WAN applications.
Automation infrastructure – Off-site communications, Graphics & Video interfacing and error capture from imbedded sensors.

Secondary deliverables
Selection and specification of SW tools and subsystems.
Coordination with subsystem hardware engineers and VV&T technicians.
Certification supporting reports
Preparation of demonstration code.
Failure Mode analysis both during and post design release.
Integrate and test software to confirm compliance with specifications.
Design and programming of Programmable Interface Controllers and associated hardware.
Typical sub-systems :
Shaft encoders, user displays, internal bus systems, processor I/O, AC and DC power control and D2A/A2D conversion.Cabling, routing, EMC compliance, electrical safety, communications systems hardware ie LON, RS485, current loop, CAN etc)

Qualifications:
A developer of real-time applications and very hardware-familiar; this is not an IT position.
Experienced with C and C++ development (must be able to work in both traditional and object orientated environs). RTOS environment.

· Familiarity with memory management techniques – data bases and data security.

· Able to design and code applications that run in a Windows or LINUX (et al) environment and also very solid experience with at least one 16 or 32 bit RTOS.

· Experience developing multi-threaded applications.

· Experience with cross-platform development, debugging, and test tools.
Experience with software development methodologies (e.g., OOA/D, UML)
Able to use CASE tools and bug tracking applications
Familiar with source code library systems – knowledge of CVS or the later SVN would be a distinct advantage.
Experience with encryption algorithms and techniques.
Be involved in all phases of product development. Responsible for process adherence, schedule, efforts and cost.
Experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and/or in-circuit emulators
Excellent computer skills (XML, Databases, Linux, Windows, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, etc).
Experience: At least 4 years engaged in the design of microprocessor control systems SW – industrial/medical/Metrology.
Education: Bachelor of engineering qualification in Electronics technology.
