Execute assigned process instrumentation and controls systems enablement project and operational activities to support industrial automation in research and development. Efficient planning, designing, executing and monitoring industrial automation implementation activities related to systems integration, control networks, engineering applications and process information data security with expected deliverables.

Job Accountabilities

Manage the automation projects activities that are taken as a part of new or operational enhancement projects in R&D sites.
Contribute in designing, implementing & configuring automation systems and process monitoring applications.
Develop automation project proposals including detailed design documents, technical recommendation, user manuals and training manuals
Coordinate with basic & detailed engineering partners during project designing & execution stages
Contribute in factory acceptance & site acceptance testing for SCADA & other automation systems,
Develop/configure interfaces with other applications like laboratory systems, scientific applications, process modelling tools, etc
Support & troubleshoot issues related to process data acquisition, tag configuration, and historian management, custom definitions, query management, and alert monitoring.
Manage site laboratory systems administration for template development, instrument connectivity, barcode system support, reports development.
Performance monitoring and troubleshooting of automation systems for optimum availability
Maintain uptime and improve effectiveness of process automation system.
Maintain & coordinate enhancement of existing automation systems as per operations needs
Develop/ update SOPs, procedures and guidelines as and when required.
Conduct periodic audit for maintenance and improvements, issue audit reports
Conduct regular awareness program with end users to increase usage of available technical tools.
Resolve automation systems related issues faced by operations.
Ensure monthly, quarterly back-ups of process data & process applications
Monitor & audit compliance with site HSE procedures / practices.

Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)

Comprehension of general control system architecture and data flow architecture
Working knowledge on Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) desirable
Knowledge of process plants,P&ID’s, plant network design, information security and relational database
Aptitude towards IT & communication technology, system requirement specifications, applications integration & interfaces.
Knowledge of developing Technical documentation & reports
Has strong analytical skills, a self-starter and has a passion for excellence and teamwork.
Apply innovative ideas in problem solving with reasoning skills
Aptitude to understand different functional domains for relevant projects.
Strong co-ordination and communication skills.

Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)

BE/B.Tech in Instrumentation.
Minimum of 4 years as technical services engineer
1-2 years’ experience in plant network support/ operation & revamp projects desirable.
Working knowledge and fundamentals of PLC, DCS and SCADA systems
Experience in process instrumentation, industrial automation and PLC/DCS configuration
