Liquid media
Application
Filter monitoring
Feed pressure monitoring
Prerequisite
The medium must always remain liquid regardless of the temperature.
Adhesion and/or crystallisation of the medium leads to blockage of the impulse lines.
Differential pressure transmitter VEGADIF 65
with connection acc. to IEC 61518
Installation
The differential pressure transmitter is connected to the measured medium and the pressure tapping points via impulse lines. This is normally carried out by means of oval flange adapters or compression-type fittings, which allow a simpler connection to the IEC 61518 connection. In the case of liquid media, the differential pressure transmitter is mounted below the pressure tapping point. This avoids air pockets and thus measurement falsification. The impulse lines must be filled and deaerated before the instrument is put into operation. The offset correction of the hydrostatic liquid column is then carried out.
Accessories
Different types of valve manifolds serve as shut-off device for disconnecting from the pressure tapping points as well as for ventilating or filling the impulse line.

Filter monitoring Feed pressure monitoring Density measurement Liquid media Application Open, closed or pressurized containers Prerequisite The medium must always remain liquid or gaseous regardless of the temperature. Adhesion or crystallisation of the medium leads to deposits on the diaphragm and thus to falsification of the measurement. The media to be measured must mix homogeneously with each other. Differential pressure transmitter VEGADIF 65 with double chemical seal assembly CSB Installation The differential pressure transmitter is connected to the measured medium and the pressure tapping points via capillary lines. The height difference between the pressure tapping points should be as large as possible so that there is a maximum differential pressure change when the density of the medium changes. The container is first filled with a known medium, e.g. water, to a point above the upper tapping point. The offset adjustment is then carried out. Accessories Where appropriate for the ambient conditions, the capillary lines can be provided with an additional plastic coating. Flow measurement Liquid media Application Flow measurement of liquid and/or dirtied media Prerequisite The medium must always remain liquid regardless of the temperature. The dimensions of the orifice plate, the Venturi tube or the Pitot tube must be calculated in dependence on the pipe diameter, medium and feed pressure. The maximum pressure at maximum flow rate results from this calculation. Aggressive or viscous media Application Flow measurement of aggressive or viscous liquids Prerequisite The diaphragm material of the chemical seal must be resistant to the measured medium. The transmitting liquid of the chemical seal must be adapted to the process temperature. Adhesion and/or crystallisation of the medium can cause damage to the separating diaphragm. Differential pressure transmitter VEGADIF 65 with double chemical seal assembly CSB Installation The differential pressure transmitter is connected to the measured medium and the pressure tapping points via capillary lines. After installation the offset correction of the hydrostatic liquid column is carried out. Accessories The dimensions of the orifice plate and the Venturi tube must be calculated beforehand in dependence on the pipe diameter, medium and feed pressure. The maximum pressure at maximum flow rate results from this calculation. The use of Pitot tubes must be investigated separately because the pressure channels may get plugged up. Gaseous and vaporous media Application Flow measurement of gases and vapours Prerequisite The medium must always remain liquid or gaseous regardless of the temperature. Installation The differential pressure transmitter is connected to the measured medium and the pressure tapping points via capillary lines. After installation the offset correction of the hydrostatic liquid column is carried out. The differential pressure transmitter should be mounted below the lower pressure tapping point. Accessories Where appropriate for the ambient conditions, the capillary lines can be provided with an additional plastic coating. Liquid media in pressurized vessels Application The use of 2 independent differential pressure transmitters with fitted chemical seal is a good idea for processes with high safety requirements as well as for very long capillaries or containers that are several stories high. Aggressive or adhesive media Closed or pressurized vessels Hygienic or sanitary requirements Prerequisite The medium must always remain liquid or gaseous regardless of the temperature. Adhesion or crystallisation of the medium leads to deposits on the diaphragm and thus to falsification of the measurement. Differential pressure transmitter VEGADIF 65 with single chemical seal assembly CSS Installation The differential pressure transmitters are mounted via CSS process fitting to the lower and upper pressure tapping points. After installation the offset correction of the hydrostatic liquid column is carried out. The process control system calculates the pressure difference and the level. Accessories Where appropriate for the ambient conditions, the capillary lines can be provided with an additional plastic coating. Liquid media in pressurized vessels Application Aggressive or viscous media under pressurized inert gas. Prerequisite The medium must always remain liquid regardless of the temperature. The superimposed gas must not adhere and/or crystallise, since this can lead to blockage of the impulse line. Differential pressure transmitter VEGADIF 65 with single chemical seal assembly CSS Installation The differential pressure transmitter is mounted on the lower pressure tapping point by means of the CSS process fitting. The minus side is connected to the upper tapping point via the impulse lines. Accessories A cut-off valve is used for ventilating the minus side or filling the impulse lines.
